Hopes and Dreams Campaign
Rebuilding our campus today to restore children's dreams of tomorrow
Critical Need:
Every 26 seconds in America, an adolescent drops out of school. When he does, he is 8 times more likely to end up in prison. Fortunately, Campagna Academy has been there to intervene. Unfortunately, our 60 year old infrastructure can no longer adequately support the growing number of children in need and the staff who serve them. The number of youth aged 12 to 18 in Lake County who have been removed from their homes and placed into residential treatment centers like Campagna Academy has grown almost 50% in the past five years. Presently, there are not enough beds available in Lake County to serve these children. Over half of all children in residential care are sent out of county and seven percent of those children are sent out of state to receive care. Not only does this require more tax dollars, but it also directly impacts the potential successful outcomes of the children by limiting their family's ability to participate in treatment with them due to mobility limitations.
Campaign Goal:
Raise the funds needed to transform the current Hoosier Boys' Town footprint into a cohesive Campagna Campus, including:
n A state-of-the-art, private-secured treatment facility
n A new administration building
n Individual cottage upgrades
n Grounds renewal
